CMAST Student Center and Sustainable House
One of the wisest energy strategies for the U.S. is to move away from large-scale coal and nuclear power plants and invest in renewable energy systems and small-scale decentralized generation technologies, i.e. "green, small, and local."
The CMAST student/faculty housing center will not only support key housing needs for faculty, staff, and students that work at the coast on a temporary basis, but will also be used to demonstrate the latest NCSU sustainable building, emerging hurricane, and alterternate energy technologies. The center will be a part of NCSU's program on "Energy, Environment and Sustainability Living and Learning Village" ("EES Village").
The student center will sit on beautiful waterfront property adjacent to the CMAST facility. This property has already been obtained, architectural designs and renderings have been developed, and the naming rights are currently available.
Term Professorship

Great universities are defined by their great faculty. Term professorships would provide CMAST with invaluable resources to recruit and retain world-class educators and researchers to coastal North Carolina.
By providing one of the most significant awards that can be bestowed upon tenured faculty, you would enable them to pursue cutting-edge research and education projects, thereby attracting the most talented students to NC State University.
Visiting Scholars Program

Research shows that new ideas from visiting faculty stimulate and help grow research and education programs at the host institution. Help NCSU stay competive in the research and education field by facilitating the transfer of ideas and technology.
Graduate Student Fellowships

Supporting graduate student education and research is an investment in the future by helping to train the next generation of scientists and educators in marine science. CMAST students work in Veterinary Medicine, Food Sciences, Marine Ecology and Conservation, Fisheries, Eco-Toxicology, and Education.
CMAST Summer Fellows Program
Your support of the Summer Fellows Program, aimed at Carteret County high school students, will provide hands-on experiences to the diverse breadth of marine science in their community, and will provide an exceptional summer experience that should help set these students apart in competing for college admissions and scholarships.
Sportfish Conservation Study

Participate in offshore fishing trips alongside CMAST researchers to the Gulf Stream to test the effects of "j" versus "circle-hooks" on catch rates of dolphin, wahoo and tuna. A full-day trip aboard one of two local fishing vessels.
Sustainable Fisheries License Plates
Support of the CMAST Sustainable Fisheries License Plate Program will help support research and conservation of recreational and commerciall important fisheries, and help keep North Carolina waters stocked for for generations to come.
CMAST Lobby Teaching Aquarium

The placement of a teaching aquarium in the lobby of the CMAST building will help CMAST educate the public on the key role of estuarine nursery areas, as well as be a visually-applealing symbol of the important work in marine sciences carried out daily by NCSU faculty and graduate student researchers.
CMAST Lobby Dolphin Skeleton

The bones of a striped dolphin are waiting to be articulated into a museum-quality display as a centerpiece to the lobby of NCSU's Center for Marine Sciences and technology. There, the skeleton will continue to provide a valuable teaching resource, as well as a visually-appealing symbol of the important work in marine sciences carried out daily by NCSU faculty and graducate student researchers.
